Officers with the Nassau County Police Department arrested Jonathan Barrientos, 28, of the village of Thomaston in eastern Great Neck on Thursday, Oct. 24 around 12:30 p.m. after an investigation determined that he was allegedly involved in numerous robberies throughout Nassau County.
Detectives say Barrientos was involved in the following incidents:
- Sunday, Aug. 25 around 8 p.m.: Barrientos allegedly entered a Shell gas station (220 Northern Blvd. in Great Neck) and removed various items from the shelves before exiting the establishment without attempting to pay.
- Monday, Oct. 21 around 6:15 p.m.: Police say Barrientos entered News and Convenience Store (29 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza) and stated to the clerk that he had a gun and wanted the money from the register. He then allegedly fled the store in an unknown direction without proceeds.
- Monday, Oct. 21 around 7:15 p.m.: Barrientos allegedly entered BP Gas Station (85 N. Central Avenue in Valley Stream) and pointed a handgun at the clerk. Police say he instructed the victim to give him the money in the register and subsequently fled the scene on foot.
Following an investigation, Barrientos was taken into custody without incident by the Robbery Squad and the Bureau of Special Operation Officers. He faces the following charges:
- First-degree robbery (two counts)
- First-degree criminal use of a firearm
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Petit larceny
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Third-degree attempted robbery
Barrientos is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, Oct. 25.
